Think of it as effectively providing a "Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) for the Soul." In today’s teraplex of information, I’m the scout who goes ahead, scopes the terrain, and comes back with the coordinates.

-Merritt Hamilton Allen, Founder, Author and Webmaster, The Merrittocracy.
This site was born from a New Mexico newspaper column that started in 2018. I still write the columns, which you see as my weekly long posts. Over the years, these columns, for which I am not paid, are disappearing behind paywalls. My online readers and friends outside New Mexico are asking to see them without a paid subscription to a paper they wouldn’t otherwise read. So, I created The Merrittocracy as one more bad pun on my name in April, 2026.
